SC orders govt to conduct COVID-19 tests for free

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the government to conduct free PCR tests for coronavirus infection.

A joint bench of Justices Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Tanka Moktan on Thursday issues a mandamus order to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and Ministry of Health not to charge for PCR tests.

Hearing the writ petition filed by advocates Keshar Jung KC and Lokendra Oli, the apex court ordered not to charge the fee as basic health care is a fundamental right of the citizens.
