Kathmandu Valley witnesses record-high 943 COVID-19 cases; four die



KATHMANDU: As many as 943 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 817 persons in Kathmandu, 58 in Bhaktapur and 69 in Lalitpur have been tested positive for COVID-19.

With this, the number of infected persons in the valley has reached 25,103.

Similarly, four males have died from COVID-19 in the valley in the last 24 hours.

A 78-year-old and 68-year-old in Kathmandu, a 68-year-old in Bhaktapur and a 48-year-old in Lalitpur succumbed to coronavirus.

Likewise, a total of 1,911 new cases of coronavirus has been confirmed across the nation in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of coronavirus infections has reached 79,728.

In a regular press briefing today at the Ministry of Health and Population, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that the new number of coronavirus cases was confirmed in 12,444 PCR tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

A total of 1,033,947 PCR tests have been carried out so far.

On the occasion, it was shared that a total of 961 people returned home after recovery from coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of people discharged after recovery has reached 57,389. The recovery percentage as of today is 71.9 percent.

Nepal currently has 21,830 active cases.

Spokesperson Dr. Gautam added that a total of 11,069 people are in home isolation, 10,761 people in institutional isolation and 5,077 in quarantine facilities.

A total of 220 coronavirus-infected people are receiving treatment in ICU and 25 with the help of a ventilator, according to the Ministry.

A total of 11 people lost their lives from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of people who have died from the coronavirus has reached 509 so far.
