KATHMANDU: Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi has resigned from his post.

Even though his tenure ends on October 19, Regmi preferred to step down before that.

Regmis resignation has paved the way for Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi to become the Chief Secretary.

Prime Minister KP Oli accepted Regmi’s resignation on Thursday.

Sources said a meeting of the cabinet is likely to appoint Regmi as an ambassador today.
