KATHMANDU:  The modern oil extraction plant set up in Srinagar has been a major boost for floriculture sector in the state and even generated employment in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian media reports said.

According to the report, the state has been boosting floriculture since it became a union territory in 2019.

The government is making efforts towards crop diversification and enhancing the income of the farmers, ANI quoted Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, Director, Agriculture, Kashmir as saying.

“The government is providing the best financial assistance to the agriculture sector. Through floriculture, the government is working for diversification of crops for the benefit of farmers and giving sustainability to their incomes,” Andrabi told the Indian news agency.

He said the oil extraction plant set up at Lal Mandi in Srinagar will help the farmers and floriculture sector.
