Spurious liquor kills 38 in Punjab State of India



KATHMANDU: Spurious liquor has killed as many as 38 people in Punjab State of India on Friday evening, Indian media reported.

Punjab Police has arrested eight bootleggers from Amritsar Rural, Batala and Tarn Taran districts in over 40 raids carried out by five teams led by senior officers.

A huge quantity of spurious liquor, drums, storage cans etc have been recovered from the accused and the same have been sent for chemical analysis to check for constituents of spurious liquor during the raids.

Meanwhile, Punjab chief minister has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident.
