KATHMANDU: A new publication “Conquering COVID-19” Strategy for Making Nepal Stronger and Resilient – Strategy Exploration Summary was released in Kathmandu on Monday.

The COVID-19 outbreak has taken over the world in a colossal manner disrupting the entire socio-economic landscape, unprecedented in modern history.

Beyond a public health crisis, this pandemic is leading to a global economic downturn with severe implications on humanity’s overall wellbeing. Much like in the rest of the world, the numbers of confirmed

COVID-19 cases in Nepal are on a rise, as is the unemployment rate. The impact on economy is severe; the GDP growth is estimated to decline from 7 % in FY 2019 to 2.27% in FY 2020 and if it prolongs, it could further worsen

“The Government and Citizens are at a critical juncture, where they can collectively take a best practices based strategic approach to the crisis and actively attack this dilemma or they can allow the country to be victimized by the crisis and bad governance as many countries on the planet have suffered,” says David Frigstad, Chairman, Frost & Sullivan, California, USA.

He stated that Nepal has many assets at its disposal despite being considered a poor country, adding that he believes that Nepal is in a unique position to Conquer COVID-19 and bring more economic prosperity and wellbeing to the citizens of Nepal.”

The Strategy Exploration document is a living and dynamic document in that the Institute will keep it updated regularly as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds.
