Rastriya Janata Party, Socialist Party register constitution amendment bill



KATHMANDU: Rastriya Janata Party(RJP) and Socialist Party(SP) have jointly registered their 9-point constitution amendment bill on Monday.

Although the constitution amendment bill the RJP and SP leaders had tried to register was denied registration on Friday,  it has been registered as a non-governmental bill on Monday.

Dr. Bharat Raj Gautam, the General Secretary of the parliament’s secretariat confirmed the news that their bill has been registered as a non-governmental bill at 5:30 pm.

According to RJP leader Keshav Jha, lawmakers duos Laxman Lal Karn and Rajendra Shrestha are mentioned as presenter of the bill.

Immediately after the government forwarded the constitution amendment bill aimed at changing the national emblem as per the new map, RJP and SP have come up with their former agenda of a constitutional amendment.

Although the constitution amendment bill was formerly tabled on April 24, 2017, during then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s tenure on, it failed to get ratification due to the lack of two-thirds majority deemed essential.
