KATHMANDU: The Ram Chandra Poudel-led faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to boycott the two upcoming meetings of the party.

According to a leader, a meeting of the leaders loyal to Poudel held at the party’s headquarters in Sanepa on Tuesday decided to boycott the office-bearer and Central Working Committee (CWC) meetings.

The main opposition has summoned the office-bearer meeting for Wednesday and CWC meeting for Thursday.

The meeting also decided to summon a meeting of district chairmen on January 6 and take suggestions on suspending articles of the party’s statute.

The faction is also preparing to consult with intellectuals and former central members.

The faction is dissatisfied with President Sher Bahadur Deuba for ‘unilaterally’ extending his tenure by one year and announcing General Convention for January 2021.
