Man killed in Kapilvastu clash was Indian national

KATHMANDU: It has been revealed that an Indian national was killed when police opened fire to take the situation under control following a clash that erupted between two religious communities in Kapilvastu district on Thursday.

Administrative Officer Manoj Kumar Saini at District Administration Office said that the deceased Suraj Kumar Pandey was an Indian national. Saini told Khabarhub that Pandey was a permanent resident of Barauni of Siddharthanagar district in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh.

The local administration has clamped curfew at Krishnanagar in Kapilvastu district after tension flared between two religious communities – Hindu and Muslim.

The situation turned tense between after Hindu people were consigning the idol after worshipping Laxmi Puja.

The situation took a nasty turn after some youths from Muslim Community protested when Hindu people were about to consign the idol of goddess Laxmi at Jhandinagar of Krishnanagar this morning, said District Police Office, Kapilvastu.
