KATHMANDU: Kanti Children’s Hospital, the only central children hospital of the country, is on a verge of closure owing to lack of health workers and budget, media report said.

The hospital with a capacity of 315 beds had cut down 46 beds in the last month. The hospital removed six ICU beds, 10 intermediate beds and 30 extra beds, Naya Patrika Daily reported.

Hospital Director Ganesh Rai said they are facing severe problem in service delivery due to lack of required doctors and nurses and necessary budget.

‘There is lack of medical officers and nurses for ICU. Only this week, the number of beds in ICU was reduced to 31,’ he said, ‘ We appealed for help to Ministry for Health time and again. But, have failed to receive any aid. If such situation continues, the hospital will shut down soon.’
