KANCHANPUR: Nepal Communist Party’s candidate Krishna Bahadur Tamang has been elected ward chairman in Punarbas Municipality-3 in Kanchanpur district.

Tamang received 528 votes as his closest contestant Deep Bahadur Tamang of the Nepali Congress got 310 votes. Bhim Tamang of Samajwadi Pary garnered 74 votes.

A total of 924 votes were cast in the by-elections held on Saturday. The ward has 1,199 voters.
