Kathmandu witnesses fall in vegetable prices



KATHMANDU: The prices of vegetables, which had soared significantly prior to Dashain and Tihar festvals, have dropped by 15-20 percent in Kathmandu.

Coriander or cilantro, which cost Rs 615 per kilogram during Tihar, has dropped to Rs 445 per kg on Wednesday at the Kalimati vegetable market, according to the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Development Board.

The average retail price of Red Radish has reduced from Rs 150 to Rs 105 per kg.

Similarly, the retail price of leafy mushrooms has been fixed at Rs 190 per kg, round mushrooms at Rs 515 per kg, radish Rs 55 per kg, and carrot Rs 165 per kg.

Likewise, the price of red potato has reduced to Rs 55 per kg, cabbage Rs 65, mustard green Rs 165, ginger Rs 225 and dry chilly Rs 390 per kg.
