Polish climber dies in course of climbing Mt Manaslu

KATHMANDU: A Polish female mountaineer died at Camp III on Mt Manaslu (8,163m) in Chumanubri Rural Municipality-1, Samagaun, according to the expedition organizer.

The deceased has been identified as fifty-year-old Rita Donata Bladyko from Poland, said Mingma Sherpa, chairman at Seven Summit Treks P. Ltd.

As part of a five-member Polish expedition led by Zbigniew Bak, Rita Donata had reached above Camp IV of the world’s eighth highest peak where she fell sick due to high altitude. According to DSP Mitra Bandhu Sharma,  Rita died while being brought down to Camp III from Camp IV on Saturday.

The rescue operation was hit due to bad weather, Sharma said.  The incident site is three days walk from Samagaun police post.
