KATHMANDU: The Aagamchen temple in Basantpur Durbar Square of Kathmandu and the Degu Taleju temple in Patan Durbar Square of Lalitpur will be reconstructed through local users committee.
The decision to this effect was taken by an executive committee meeting of the National Reconstruction Authority. Financial support for the reconstruction of the temples damaged in the 2015 earthquake will be received from the Government of Japan.
The local people’s representatives, local people and the NRA had forged a consensus to carry out the work through local users committee. The reconstruction work remained stalled due to differences on whether to carry out the work through bidding or through the committee.
Likewise, the Lalitpur metropolis had demanded that the reconstruction of the Degu Taleju temple be done through users committee. Accordingly, the committee shall be formed by the metropolis.
