FinMin Khatiwada ‘unaware’ of budget to IIFA Award

KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance Yubaraj Khatiwada has said that his ministry was unaware of ‘Nepal government sponsoring the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards and doling out Rs 440 million immediately’.

“I came to know about that from media,” Kantipur Daily quoted Finance Minister as saying, “Ministry has not received any proposal on doling out money for the award. It is not a concern of the government if the Nepal Tourism Board and Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office released the amount for the award ceremony.”

A recent cabinet meeting had permitted to organize the award ceremony and sanctioned the amount for organizing it.
