Garbage piles on streets as Sisdole locals obstruct disposal

KATHMANDU: The solid waste collection in Kathmandu Valley has been halted for five days following obstruction from locals in Sisdole landfill site.

As the collection has been halted, the garbage has been piled up in roads making it hard for people to commute and increasing chances of a disease outbreak with the onset of monsoon.

Locals have been demanding to stop disposing of waste at that the landfill site ‘as it is already out of capacity’, Naya Patrika Daily reported.

Negations are being made with the agitating side, KMC officials said.
