IS leader Baghdadi appears in a video

BAGHDAD: The Islamic State has released a propaganda video showing its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, international media reports said.

His video was last released in July 2014.

In the latest video, Baghdadi is featured sitting close to an assault rifle.

The faces of some men, whom Baghdadi is seen addressing, are blurred in the video released by Al-Furqan Media.

Baghdadi, was earlier reported to be injured in an air strike in 2015. He, however, seems to have fully recovered from his injuries.

The propaganda video, which has gone viral on social media since it was released, has featured Baghdadi speaking in Arabic language, admitting that the Sri Lanka bombings were a ‘retaliation’ for losing Baghouz — the last IS stronghold in Syria.

The authenticity of the video, however, cannot be confirmed. Likewise, the timeline of when the video was shot too remains unclear. (Agencies)
