Karnali State unveils bill to ensure food assistance for poor

SURKHET: The Karnali State government has unveiled a bill to ensure food assistance to the targeted to poor households residing in the region.

The Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives formulated the bill to ensure that people in the region get access to quality food. The bill also aims to protect and promote local products.

The food assistance would be managed by issuing identity cards, it is said. The bill has also given priority to local food production.With the passage of the bill, the State government and local levels will supply food grains via fair price shops or public food depot centre.
