Distribution of voters’ ID card begins



KATHMANDU: After the government employees and security persons reached the area where the by-election is being held, the distribution of voters ID cards has begun.

According to the Election Commission, the employees began distributing the voters’ ID cards for new voters for the by-election being conducted from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm coming Saturday.

As part of the preparation of the by-election, voter educators also reached doorsteps to instruct the proper way of casting ballot.

The election is being held in 37 districts for the vacant posts of 52 people’s representatives ranging from ward chairperson to member of the House of Representatives. There are altogether 247 polling booths and 537 polling centers.

A total of 454,114 voters are eligible to vote in the election. The Election Commission has urged all sides including candidates, political leaders and parties, and media to help make voting free and fair.
