Cabinet’s go-ahead to formulate integrated land bill

KATHMANDU: The government has given the go-ahead to formulate an integrated land bill.

A recent cabinet meeting decided to that effect, Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Baskota said at a regular press briefing on Thursday.

Minister Baskota said the bill was necessary to become self-reliant by increasing production through proper utilization of land, adding the ‘controversial’ Guthi Bill will be integrated into the new bill.

Earlier in June, the government had registered the highly-talked-about bill brought to ‘manage lands’ belonging to Guthis (religious, social trusts). The bill was later withdrawn following a public outcry.
