Allow operation of Tootle and Pathao service: Minister to DoTM

KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Basant Nembang, has directed the authorities to allow the operation of rider service including Tootle and Pathao in the current status.

Minister Nembang sought clarification from Director General of Department of Transport Management (DoTM), Gogan Bahadur Hamal about the reasons behind stopping the service, which is in operation since long.

The Department last week had asked Tootle and Pathao to close their service, saying Transport Management Act-2048 mentions that “Private vehicles cannot be used for public transport service.”

On the occasion, Minister Nembang directed the Department to allow operation of service provider organisations like Tootle and Pathao by formulating work procedure and directives.

Spokesperson at the Ministry, Rajeshwor Gyawali said, “The Minister has directed to allow operation of service with some amendment in the related Act.”
