Chatur Bahadur Chand elected CAN President



KATHMANDU: Chatur Bahadur Chand has been elected President of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Saturday defeating his close contestant Binayaraj Pandey. Chand received 44 votes and Pandey only 15.

Likewsie, Ashoknath Pyakurel has been elected Secretary of the cricket governing body as Rohan Bahadur Singh and Rajbabu Shrestha have been elected Treasurers.

59 eligible voters cast their votes at the election for the new leadership held on Saturday in the CAN General Assembly that kicked off on Friday.

As one out of 17 members of the Working Committee must be woman, Jayanti Bhatta was elected unanimously. 29 were in the election fray for the remaining 16 posts. One each from State 2, Gandaki State, State 5 and Sudur Paschim State were elected state members unanimously.

Mohammad Daud Ansari from State 2, Rishiram Gautam from Gandaki State, Prashant Bikram Malla from State 5, Padam Bahadur Khadka from Karnali State and Bikram Bista from Sudur Paschim State have been elected state members unanimously.
