Construction of fast-track moving unhindered: Nepal Army



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) has reiterated its commitment to carry out the construction work to complete the Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhes Fast-track within the stipulated deadline.

The Fast-track has been a strategic project of national pride. Speaking at a press conference at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday, Army spokesman Brig. Gen. Bigyandev Pandey informed that there were no hindrances in accelerating the project’s construction as the DPR, the fund required for the project, and human resources and have been ensured.

The press conference was organized with the objective of disseminating the information on the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and the progress of the work of the project.

It should be noted that the Council of Ministers, had on August 18, approved the DPR prepared by Korea’s Susung Engineering and Consulting Company with revisions.

Project chief, Sarad Lal Shrestha said that the estimated construction cost of the project comes around Rs 175 billion 193 million 579 thousand including the value-added tax (VAT).

It will be constructed as per the Asian Highway category ‘A’ design standards, according to him. All works related to the construction of bridges and tunnels would be carried out simultaneously.
