88 people committed suicide in Siraha in last fiscal year



SIRAHA: As many as 88 people committed suicide in the fiscal year 2018/19 in Siraha district alone.

According to DSP Apil Bohara, spokesperson of District Police Office (DPO), Siraha, 51 people committed suicide by hanging while 37 people took to poison to kill themselves.

Similarly, in the fiscal year 2017/18, 40 people had committed suicide by hanging while 22 people consumed poison to kill themselves, according to the record maintained by the police.

In the fiscal year 2016/17, 34 people hanged themselves to death while 13 people consumed poison to commit suicide. The rate of suicidal case is on the increase is the statistics of the DPO, Siraha is anything to go by.

The suicidal case has attributed to mental illness, domestic dispute, unemployment, drug abuse and divorce, according to DSP Bohara.
