Senior citizens to avail 50 % concession in airfare



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to provide 50 percent concession in airfare for senior citizens.

Unveiling a one-year work plan on Tuesday, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai announced that citizens above 70 years of age can avail 50 percent concession in the airfare.

Minister Bhatarai said the government is holding discussions with the airline companies to this effect. “It will come into force immediately,” said Bhattarai.

He further said that only those VIPs will be allowed to enter the Tribhuvan International Airport with vehicles and preparations are underway to bring the airport into operation for 24 hours.
