Economic growth 6.81%, poverty 18.7%



KATHMANDU: With the 6.81 percent economic growth in the current fiscal year 2075/76, the Gross Domestic Growth is estimated to stay at Rs 3. 464 trillion. The  economic growth in the last fiscal year was 6.3 percent. It was 7.74 in the fiscal year 073/74.

The economic was reduced to 0.2 percent in the fiscal year 072/73 due to earthquake and blockade.

In the current fiscal year the per ca-pita income is estimated to reach USD 1, 034 (Rs 117,455) in the current fiscal year.

In the last fiscal year, it was USD 998. Similarly, a total of 18.7 percent of Nepali people will remain under the poverty line.

The percentage of poor people was at 21.6 percent in the white paper presented by Minister for Finance Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada one-and-a-half years ago.
