Minister Gyawali urges Chinese investors to invest in Nepal

BEIJING: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali has urged Chinese investors to make investment in Nepal, and expressed commitment of protecting their investment by creating investment-friendly environment.

Minister Gyawali said Nepal has an investment-friendly environment adding that the government would further improve the environment.

Giving a keynote speech on Nepal-China Economic and Trade Forum in Beijing on Sunday, Minister Gyawali said since Nepal has a stable government now, it will ensure policy stability and consistency, which he argued is pre-requisite for boosting investors’ confidence.

Stating that the decade-long political transition in Nepal has been concluded after the promulgation of the Constitution in 2015, he reiterated the government’s motto of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.’

On the occasion, Minister Gyawali also said Nepal aspired to become middle-income country by 2030 and graduate from LDC status at an early date.

Saying that Nepal aims to realize the SDGs, the country Nepal requires massive investment in infrastructure development to achieve these goals.

“Nepal’s domestic resources are insufficient to achieve our goals, therefore, we need support and cooperation of the international community,” he said.

Minister Gyawali said Nepal-China relations have been expanding and deepening in several areas, including cultural, economic, technical and people-to-people relations.

Saying that Nepal is committed to One-China policy, Minister Gyawali said Nepal has a principled position that it does not allow Nepal’s soil to be used against China.
