KATHMANDU: The British Embassy in Kathmandu has issued a travel advisory to British nationals to avoid crowded areas and to remain vigilant in Nepal.

Stating that round 40,000 British nationals visit Nepal annually, the Embassy here said even though most visits are trouble-free, small-scale politically motivated protests, strikes or demonstrations are common in Nepal.

It has asked its citizens to remain vigilant since such political protests or strikes can occur at short notice and clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement agencies may occur anytime.

The embassy has also warned its citizens to exercise caution and avoid any demonstrations and report any incidents to the police. It has also advised them to avoid traveling by vehicle in the early morning.

The embassy issued the advisory a day after series of bomb blasts took place in Kathmandu killing four people and injuring six others.
