BIRATNAGAR: The general shutdown organized by the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led group has had partial impact in Biratnagar.
The educational institutions, industries and factories are closed due to the shutdown. However, shops are open in the market. Vehicles operating on long and short routes to various destinations from here have not operated.
But jeeps, cars, vans, motorbikes, autorickshaws and bicycles are operating. Although no untoward incidents have occurred in Morang district so far in course of the shutdown, a suspicious object was found planted near an electric pole east of the Pahadagachha on the border between ward number 4 and 1 of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, police said.
The object looked like a pressure cooker and was inside a polythene bag. Police suspect it to be a pressure cooker bomb. People who were on a morning walk saw the object and reported it to the police.
