KATHMANDU: Lawmakers have exerted pressure on the government to close the constituency development budget saying that it is irrelevant at a time when the local government is already in place.

Both the lawmakers from the ruling and the opposition have called for scrapping the budget saying that it is against the spirit of the federalism.

Reacting to the provision, Bipin Adhikari, a constitutional law expert, said constituency development budget is against the separation of powers.
