PARBAT: A seismometer has been installed for the first time at the Parbat Gurukul Academy at Kushma, the district headquarters of Parbat.
The seismometer has been installed with the support of University of Lausanne, Switzerland. The seismometer can measure tremors measuring more than one magnitude.
Shiva Subedi, a Nepali scientist, who is pursuing PhD studies in seismology at the University of Lausanne, has been facilitating in the installation of seismometers in 23 various schools of Nepal.
The university is implementing this project in collaboration with various countries.
Subedi said the seismometers have been set up at schools so that it would be convenient especially for the students to learn and know about earthquake.
