Maharashtra CM Fadnavis steps down after three days in govt

MUMBAI: Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has announced his resignation today afternoon.

Fadnavis said that his deputy chief minister, Ajit Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), had also resigned. He also blamed the fall of his government on Pawar’s resignation, Indian media reports have said.

The Fadnavis government was sworn in early on Saturday morning.

The Fadnavis-Ajit government lasted all of three days. (Agencies)
