District presidents call for fresh Mahasamiti meeting

KATHMANDU: District presidents of the main opposition Nepali Congress have have called for holding a Mahasamiti meeting yest again, complaining that the the party statute endorsed by the highest policy making body was violated, reported Nagarik daily.

A gathering of NC district presidents in the capital on Monday concluded that the some provisions of the statute were reversed by the Central Working Committee meeting.

Earlier, district presidents had put fourth their demand that the central committee members should be elected from party’s lower level and that the same candidate should not be elected twice through the proportional representation (PR) system.

Both the factions led by Deuba and Paudel are bent on bolstering their camps in order to turn the table in their favor in the coming 14th General Convention.
