Chitwan District Court recording Yubraj Kandel’s statement

CHITWAN: The Chitwan District Court has started recording statements of journalist Yubaraj Kandel.

Even though the court started recording statements of television presenter Rabi Lamichhane and Kandel from Sunday, they could not be completed due to time constraint.

The District Attorney Office, Chitwan had on Sunday filed a charge-sheet against Lamichhane, Kandel and Asmita Karki.

Though the country recorded Karki’s statement on Sunday, it is taking Lamichhane’s and Kandel’s statement today in connection with the suicide of journalist Shalikram Pudasaini.

They have been charged of abetting Pudasaini’s suicide. Once the duo’s statements are recorded, the court will then decide whether to release them on a general date, grant bail or remand them to custody until the court gives its verdict on the case.

The Chitwan District Attorney Office has sought a fine of Rs 50,000 and a sentence of five years or both for Lamichhane, Kandel and Karki in line with Criminal Code Act, 2017.
