Police arrest a person on the charge of betting



CHITWAN: A person has been arrested on the charge of betting in the ICC World Cup Cricket Tournament 2019, police said.

Police arrested Mukesh Kumar Shah, 33, of Pratappur, Nawalparasi who was currently residing at a rented room in Chitwan.

Police also confiscated Rs 345,056 and six sets of mobile phone from this rented room.

According to police, Shah had a huge betting network that included both Nepali and Indian nationals. He was involved in this banned business in national and international sports tournaments in the past, according to police.

Police said Shah will be tried under Clause 125 of Criminal Code-2074 BS.
