Two killed in separate incidents in Jhapa

JHAPA: Two persons died in separate incidents in the district in the past 24 hours. Umesh Hingmang, 40, of Nagi-6, Panchthar,  currently living at Kankai Municipality-1, sustained critical injuries after a government vehicle hit his bicycle at Durgapur of Kankai-1 along the East-West Highway.

Later, Hingmang, who was rushed to Biratamod-based B and C Hospital, succumbed to his injuries in course of treatment, police confirmed.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the vehicle belonging to the District Administration Office, Jhapa, along with the driver.

Similarly, Bhim Rajbanshi, 32, of Bhadrapur municipality-6 died from a lightning strike. The lightning struck him at around 2:30 am today and he died on the way to the Bhadrapur-based hospital, the Ward Police Office Bhadrapur said. The body has been sent to the Mechi Zonal Hospital, Bhadrapur for postmortem.
