Two Nepali women forced in prostitution rescued from India

KATHMANDU: Two Nepali women have been rescued from being forced into prostitution in New Delhi, the capital of India.

Maiti Nepal’s office in India rescued them when they were about to be sold to a brothel in the Indian capital. Both the rescued women were allegedly trafficked luring them of a high-paying job.

The rescued women are both 25years old and one is from Kavrepalanchok and another from Jhapa district, the Maiti Nepal’s India branch office stated.

Maiti Nepal’s India branch office trustee Sita Adhikari said the two women were rescued with the help of the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi, the New Delhi Police and a social worker Bal Krishna Pandey. The two women were taken to India via Kathmandu and Birgunj.

Adhikari said the rescued women are being sent to Nepal today.
