16 kg illegal gold found in a cave

GORKHA: Police have recovered 16 kilograms of gold hidden in a cave located at Khorlabesi in Dharche Rural Municipality along the Manaslu foot-trail of the district.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Dhankamal Gurung of Dharche Rural Municipality on the alleged charge of hiding the gold smuggled through Tibet.

Gurung had been out of contact with the villagers for the last 27 days. Police have presumed that Gurung had hidden the gold in the cave for the fear that it would be looted.

Police said they are investigating the case after taking Gurung into custody.
