Congress rejects Rahul Gandhi’s resignation offer

NEW DELHI: Congress Working Committee (CWC) rejects unanimously Rahul Gandhi’s resignation offer. Indian National Congress popularly called Congress party won just 52 seats in the 542-member Lower House recently concluded elections in India.

In 2014 elections, the party had won only 44 seats under his leadership. Rahul Gandhi as party president has been held responsible for such a poor performance of the Congress party in last two general elections of Lower House.

The CWC chaired by Rahul Gandhi was attended by Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, chief ministers of party-ruled states and other top leaders from across the country. The CWC meet was the first review meeting after its humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.
