KASKI: The Finance and Development Committee of Gandaki State Assembly has suggested the government to allocate budget based on the priorities, needs and rationale of the government. In a discussion held with the Ministry of Finance and Planning here on Friday, the members of the Committee urged the government to introduce its budget considering the basis paper prepared by the State Policy and Planning Commission.
Committee Chair Dipak Koirala urged the Ministry to finalize the upcoming budget and program based on its outcome and rationale. “If the priority of the government is tourism, then it should allocate sufficient budget for tourism infrastructure,” he said.
The Committee members also pointed out the need for a strong monitoring mechanism in order to ensure enforcement of the government’s projects and programs in coordination with the local level government units. Budget should not be distributed based on political faith and access, they said.
