Nirala, AG during king’s direct rule, recommended as JC member

KATHMANDU: The government has recommended senior advocate Laxmi Bahadur ‘Nirala’ as a member of the Judicial Council (JC).

Nirala, the attorney general during the direct rule of former king Gyanendra Shah in 2005, has been recommended for the JC by the incumbent government led by Prime Minister K P Oli.

The post of a member is vacant at the JC after Padam Prasad Baidik stepped down from his post earlier this month.

Nirala will be appointed to the JC council after the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee endorses his name.
