Inmates in Damauli jail face tough time



TANAHUN: The detention center constructed on the premises of district jail, Damauli, is yet to be handed over owing to the budget crunch.

The Rishi Shakti Builders and Engineers Pvt Ltd, Dumre completed the construction of the building within the agreed date of December 1, the handover process of the building has been stalled for failing to make timely payment of the bills.

The district prison with a capacity of accommodating 35 inmates now is managing 148 jailbirds owing to the delay in handover.

Inmates are facing a hard time to sleep and using washrooms, according to Narayan Prasad Adhikari, an information officer at the district prison.

The office building, women detention center, and security barrack have been constructed at the cost of Rs 64.4 million.
