LAMJUNG: The first canoeing festival was observed in the Gaikhure falls located in ward no 1 of Besisahar Municipality.
Held under the theme of the upcoming Visit Nepal Year 2020, a total of 35 people are taking part in the two-day festival. Twelve people took part in the festival held on Friday under the joint auspices of Environment Reforms and Development Campaign and Lamjung Television.
A fee of Rs 3,000 has been charged per person for the canoeing, according to the organizers. Earlier, inaugurating the festival, Mayor of Besisahar Guman Singh Aryal said that the municipality was full of waterfalls and other tourist sites, which need to be promoted.
He also shared that a detailed project report had been prepared to develop Gaikhure falls into a tourist site.
