Irish climber dies on Mount Everest

KATHMANDU: An Irish climber died while scaling Mount Everest on Friday morning. He was attempting to ascent the world’s highest mountain from the Tibetan side.

Kevin Hynes passed away in his tent at the North Col at 7,000 meters in the early hours today. He had earlier climbed Everest South and Lhotse, according to expedition organizer 360 Expeditions.

Hynes reached Camp 3 at 8,300 meters on May 22. He started his descent the next day. He was accompanied by experienced Sherpa, Dawa Sangee, who himself has summated Everest south twice, Everest North and Makalu twice.
