NCP chairmen hold talks on appointment of speaker

KATHMANDU: Two chairpersons of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal have held talks at Baluwatar on Monday morning.

According to Baluwatar sources, Oli, who is also the Prime Minister of Nepal, and Dahal dwelled on issues including Standing Committee meeting convened on Sunday, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the appointment of speaker of the House Representatives.

“The two-hour-long meeting between the two chairpersons focused on the appointment of the speaker, MCC and Standing Committee meeting,” said the sources.

With the fifth winter session of the federal parliament already started, speaker of the House of Representatives has got to be elected.

The NCP is making preparations to ask incumbent deputy speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe to resign from her post and appoint Subas Nembang as the speaker of the federal parliament representing the NCP.
