MUMBAI: Sourav Ganguly has been elected unopposed as the new Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President.

Ganguly took over as the new president at the apex body’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai today, Indian media reports have said.

Ganguly will serve only for 9 months as BCCI president as the ‘Cooling-Off’ period clause in the constitution of BCCI makes it compulsory for board officials to quit after 6 years in office.

Ganguly has played 113 Tests and 311 one-day internationals. He has also led India to 21 Test wins. (Agencies)
