New IT bill seeks to control social media

The government’s proposed new bill on IT passed by the House of Representatives for discussion yesterday authorizes the government to control the use of social media and its contents, writes Kantipur daily. This bill proposes that those wishing to use social media are required to get registered at the Department of Information Technology. The paper also writes that total 150 ropani government land got registered under the name of Hayat Hotel due to a wrong decision taken by Taragaun Development Committee.
