International Rheumatology Conference to be held in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: Nepal Rheumatology Association is organizing a regional conference on rheumatology on September 27-28 in Kathmandu.

The conference aims to increase public awareness about rheumatic diseases, technology for its treatment, challenges, and its situation in South Asia.

The conference will be participated by over fifty rheumatologists from Nepal, India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

More than 124 doctors from Nepal are taking part in the conference at the conference, which will issue a ‘Kathmandu Declaration’.

Executive committee member of Nepal Rheumatology Association and rheumatologist Dr. Shweta Nakarmi said that the participants will also present a paper on the treatment of arthritis.

According to her, 10 percent of Nepal’s population suffer from several types of arthritis. Nepal has only about 30 arthritis specialists.
