Trump postpones mass deportation raids

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has said he would postpone the mass deportation raids for two weeks as he said he would first seek compromise with Democratic leaders on the immigration issue, media reports have said.

President Trump has come under pressure from Democrats to call off the raid, which was likely to target immigrants in around 10 U.S. cities on Sunday.

Reports said U.S. House of Representatives’ Speaker Nancy Pelosi had asked Trump by phone to call off the raids. (Agencies)
