Govt. suspends doctor as encephalitis death toll rises to 109 in Bihar



PATNA: The government has suspended a senior doctor from Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur of Bihar for his negligence as acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) death toll rose to 109 due to lack of treatment.

A total of 109 children admitted with AES or Japanese encephalitis have died due to lack of treatment, media reports have said. Senior doctor Bhimsen Kumar has been suspended.

In Bihar, at least 145 people, mostly children have died due to brain fever caused by AES. (Agencies)
